Little Farm at fingle
the little farm
The little farm is exactly what you think it could be, a little farm! The animals are more the Fingle Glen pets than a traditional farm - they live on site and we welcome you to visit them at any time during your stay. We do have food available at Reception to feed them, however please note it’s given out on a first come first serve basis as we need to be mindful about the animals overeating. If you would like to feed the animals during your stay we would recommend letting reception know at check in, or calling to let us know when you would like to pop by.
The Chickens
We call then our Burford Brown ladies. A Burford Brown is often described as Britain’s favourite hen, laying the most rich dark brown eggs with extra large yellow yolks. They are very sociable, love human company and if you approach their pen they will be sure to approach you back to say hello.
The Miniature Pygmy Goats
Our pygmy goats are a miniature breed with a stocky build and dark color patterns, native to West Africa. They are hardy, resilient and can easily acclimate to new environments. They can grow a cashmere undercoat that keeps their body warm by keeping warm air trapped around their bodies so they are perfectly happy being outside in their pen at Fingle. These fun-loving goat breeds enjoy playing and jumping off high surfaces, hence their custom built play area. They are very friendly and extremely well natured - although don’t be fooled, they are also very cheeky!
